Hurricane Preparedness Week (May 27-June 2)

This week is “Hurricane Preparedness Week” Image

Is your home protected in against windstorms and hurricanes?  As the Summer begins, it is important to review the safety measures we have in place and make ourselves aware of any weak points that need to be addressed.  Many policies have a 2% to 5% deductible for Hurricanes & windstorms.  Do you currently have 2% of the value of your entire dwelling in an account that is readily accessible for repairs to your home?

Review this Hurricane Checklist from the Hartford as a great starting point!

Also, here’s some information from National Hurricane Center with ways to be prepared & take action.

Remember, no one can protect your home better than you can.

  1. Yes sir! I am prepared. Well, let me say this, I am as prepared as I am today. What I am trying to say is, no one is as prepared as they should be, but I think that everyone should be prepared as they can be. If your doing it right, your doing a little bit every week. You should never break yourself and do to much at once. Preparedness is a year round ritual. If you do a little bit “here” and a little bit “there”, then you are more prepared than your neighbor is. FEMA says, you should be prepared for at least 2 weeks. While this is true, 72 hrs. is a great start. I would love for you to take a look at my blog. It gives weekly information on tips and gear for preparedness and survival for at least 72 hrs. of survival and longer. http://reliantsurvivalblog.blogspot.com/
